We went up to the top of the mountain where there was no one, only the snowy peaks. Oleg told me that he had never celebrated the New Year without his family, and he wants me to become his family. He stood on one knee, took out a diamond ring from a black box and put it on my finger. I could not have possibly denied it. After we had descended from the mountains, we sat down at a restaurant with my parents, grandparents and my sister. We drank mulled wine and Oleg asked my father’s permissions to marry me. That New Year’s Eve was full of happiness.
He proposed to me on the 31st of December in Austria 3,000 metres high, at the ski resort. Zelden – the one where James Bond was filmed.
Dasha and Oleg really did not want the typical morning preparations, ordinary photographs with a sad wedding dress in a closet, classic shots with champagne…we introduced a funny homely alternative.
The morning of the wedding day a big group of friends had gathered at the flat of the wedding couple to take part in a gastronomic battle. The girls were practicing the art of cooking delicious syrniki (traditional Russian dessert with cottage cheese, usually served for breakfast), while the boys prepared rich mulled wine. All of the participants received aprons and chef hats with the lettering “ Bride’s and Groom’s team”. It was a delicious breakfast with happy photographs.

You must admit, that even at a wedding agency it is not often you will hear such a romantic proposal story. Of course we really wanted to tie in these symbolic facts for the couple, into the wedding concept.
Dasha and Oleg where eternally in love with the winter and the mountains, they loved hosting their dear friends at their house, their life was based between three cities of the world (study and work in London, visits to their family in Moscow, holidays in New York), they valued minimalism, high quality service and sophisticated taste.
Selection of the Venue
When 150 guests are invited to the wedding from all around the world, and requirement for the standard of service and cuisine are as high as that mountain top, where the groom proposed to the bride, the choice of the venue is obvious. Only a 5 star hotel… and only The Ritz Carlton.
Together with our decorators our wedding agency offered the couple to divide the spacious ballroom into two parts, one for the symbolic wedding ceremony and one for the banquet.
The most important surprise for the guests was the wedding ceremony. The guests were literally transported to the very place and moment, when Oleg was proposing to Dasha. In the ballroom covered with fake snow, against a backdrop of blue and gray mountain peaks, the newlyweds exchanged mutual vows of love and fidelity, and put on each other wedding rings.
If the space for the ceremony had a mountain theme, the area of the banquet took the guests to the modern cities. Decorators created a geometrically designed presidium backdrop that depicted city skyscrapers. The guest tables also had urban compositions composed of glass flasks and snow-white orchids.
